Community Activity Day — Tiret Riverside Resort, Eldoret

As part of our commitment to strengthening individuals and families through meaningful, confidence-building experiences, the Blue Pillar Self-Reliant Project organized a community activity day at Tiret Riverside Resort in Eldoret. While much of our work focuses on employment, training, verification, and small-business support, we also recognize the value of creating opportunities for connection, recreation, and personal development.

This event brought together participants from various Blue Pillar initiatives, along with their families. For many, it was a rare opportunity to step away from daily challenges and enjoy a structured day of positive, uplifting activities in a supportive environment.

Participants engaged in a range of activities designed to build unity, courage, and teamwork, including:

  • Ziplining – helping individuals overcome fear, build confidence, and experience something new and exhilarating.
  • Archery – fostering focus, patience, and personal discipline in a fun, hands-on setting.
  • Team-building challenges – encouraging cooperation, communication, problem-solving, and mutual support among participants.
  • Football (soccer) – providing energetic recreation that brought children, youth, and adults together in healthy competition and shared enjoyment.

These activities not only created joy and excitement but also helped strengthen relationships and promote a sense of community and belonging. Many participants expressed that the event lifted their spirits and helped them feel more connected—to each other, to their families, and to the broader Blue Pillar community.

At Blue Pillar, we believe that true self-reliance involves more than financial assistance or business training. It also includes emotional strength, supportive relationships, and shared positive experiences. The Tiret Activity Day reinforced this belief and demonstrated the power of bringing people together in a healthy, uplifting environment.

This event served as a reminder that when individuals feel valued, encouraged, and united, they are better prepared to grow, work hard, and build strong, self-reliant lives.
